Softball Secures Five Commitments for 2019-20
The Brenau softball team and Head Coach Devon Thomas announce the signing of five student-athletes to the 2019-2020 softball team.
Kasey Blair, Cameron Dillard, Shae Reagor, Morgan Tyler and Brooke Wakenigg join fifteen returning letter winners from the 2019 AAC Tournament Championship squad.
Blair, the daughter of Kelly and Michael Blair, is a transfer from West Georgia Tech in Carrollton, Ga. During her freshman season at West Georgia Tech, Blair hit .342 and was named the team's Most Valuable Player. In senior season at Kell High School in Marietta, Ga., she hit .486 and was recognized as a 7-AAAAA All-Region first-team selection. Blair plans on majoring in nursing at Brenau.
Dillard, the daughter of Karen and Doug Dillard, is a transfer from NCAA DII Young Harris College in Young Harris, Ga. In high school, Dillard was a standout at Lanier High School in Sugar Hill, Ga. and was the 2017 Region Pitcher of the Year. Dillard plans on majoring in biology at Brenau.
Reagor, the daughter of Lucy and Tony Reagor, is a former teammate of Kasey Blair at West Georgia Tech. During her prep career at Allatoona High School in Kennesaw, Ga., Reagor was a first-team selection for both All-Region and All-County honors as well as a second-team All-State honoree.
Tyler, the daughter of Kim and Brad Tyler, is a graduate of Oconee County High School in Watkinsville, Ga. During her high school career, the outfielder was a three-time All-State selection who set the Oconee County High School record for stolen bases in a season (40). Tyler plans on majoring in nursing at Brenau.
Wakenigg, the daughter of Laura and Richard Wakenigg, is a transfer from the University of North Georgia and a graduate of Harris County High School in Hamilton, Ga. During her high school career, the 3B/pitcher was the team's Most Valuable Player and was awarded Bi-City First-Team honors and was a Georgia High School Senior All-Star Game participant. Wakenigg will major in Health Sciences with a Pre-OT concentration.
"We have a large group of returners from last season, including seven starters and lost three talented seniors to graduation," said head coach Devon Thomas. "We added more speed on offense with Morgan Tyler, an experienced junior college infield duo in Blair and Reagor and also more depth to our pitching staff with two former NCAA DII pitchers from top programs in Dillard and Wakenigg."
