Daniel Named NAIA Pitcher of the Week
Freshman Kathleen Daniel continued her impressive freshman season by being named the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Softball Pitcher of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday.
Daniel finished this past week with four wins, including one no-hitter against Coastal Georgia. The Locust Grove, Ga. native pitched 28 innings, allowing only two runs with 36 strikeouts against four walks.
Currently, she leads the NAIA in strikeouts (333), hits allowed per game (2.00) and wins (22).
Collectively, Daniel is 22-2 with a 0.36 era and has helped her team to a #8 national ranking in the first 2017 NAIA Softball Coaches' Poll.
The award was selected out of a pool of conference, independent and unaffiliated group winners for their performances during the week of March 13-19.
