Softball Splits with Truett-McConnell
The Brenau softball team split a pair of non-conference road games against Truett-McConnell (Ga.) College on Thursday in Gainesville.
In the opening game of the doubleheader, the Golden Tigers used two late runs and another stellar pitching performance from Eli Daniel to win 2-0.
After a scoreless game through four innings, Brenau scored one run in both the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings to earn their 12th win of the season.
Daniel pitched a complete-game one hitter and added 11 strikeouts to notch her eighth win of the season.
Mackenzie Oliver Mullis led the offense with two hits and one RBI, while Courtney Kenney went 1-3 with an RBI. Kelsey Payne and Shelton Kendrix each added two hits apiece.
In the second game of the afternoon, Brenau struggled to find any consistency in an 8-2 loss.
The host Bears outhit the Golden Tigers 10-4, while starter Jessica Rathje surrendered six earned runs over seven innings.
Lexi Cash had two hits, while Mullis and Kenney each added one hit.
Brenau (12-3 overall) next hosts Montreat (NC) University on Saturday for a doubleheader. First pitch is at 1:00 pm.
