Softball Rolls Past Middle Georgia
The Brenau softball team wrapped up the regular season with a sweep of Middle Georgia College in a Southern States Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday.
In game one, the Golden Tigers score two runs in the fourth inning and one in the fifth inning to sneak by the Knights 3-2.
Elizabeth Schneider went a perfect 2-2 with an RBI, while Allison Gunn added two hits and an RBI.
Jessica Rathje pitched a complete game to capture her 20th win of the season. The freshman threw seven innings, allowing only two earned runs for the Golden Tigers.
In game two, Brenau tied the score at 6-6 in the bottom of the seventh, and then scored one more in the bottom of the eighth to secure their 28th win of the season.
Kelsey Payne mashed her eighth homer of the season, while Lexi Cash went 3-5 with two RBIs. Gunn continued her strong day with two RBIs and Savannah Moore also added an RBI to help finish the Golden Tigers finish the regular season with a win.
Taylor Causey picked up her second win of the week as the senior threw three innings, allowing only two hits with one earned run and two strikeouts.
Brenau (28-20 overall, 12-7 SSAC) finishes the regular season in fourth place and awaits their seeding for the Southern States Athletic Conference tournament in Montgomery, Alabama on Thursday.
