Softball Takes Two from Coastal Georgia
The Brenau softball team swept two games against Coastal Georgia in a Southern States Athletic Conference doubleheader in Brunswick on Friday.
The Golden Tigers won both games 3-1 to pull even in Southern States Athletic Conference play heading down the final stretch of the season.
Jessica Rathje continued her strong freshman campaign, throwing 10 1/3 innings over both games and allowing only two runs to capture her 12th and 13th wins of the season.
In game one, the Golden Tigers struck for two runs in the top of the second, and then added an RBI double from Savannah Moore to clinch the win.
In game two, Brenau again scored in the top of the second as Kelsey Payne singled to score Mason Garland and Courtney Kenney for a 2-0 lead. Kenney then added a third run with an RBI single in the top of the third to give the Golden Tigers their 19th win of the year.
Gracie Dorr added 3 2/3 innings of strong relief in game two, allowing no runs on four hits.
Brenau (19-16 overall, 5-5 SSAC) takes a short break before traveling to face #1 ranked Auburn-Montgomery (Ala.) University on April 9th for a 1 pm doubleheader.
