Softball Garners SSAC Postseason Awards

The Brenau softball team received several accolades as the Southern States Athletic Conference postseason awards were released by the conference office on Wednesday.

Elizabeth Schneider (JR/Smyrna, Ga.) was named to the SSAC First Team for her play during the 2015 season. The Smyrna, Ga. native is a three-time All-Conference selection who led the team in batting average (.353) and walks (26) and was second in slugging (.481).

Madison Gossett (FR/Trenton, Ga.) and Mackenzie Oliver (SO/Martin, Ga.) were also selected as SSAC Second Team members for their outstanding seasons.

Gossett, a freshman pitcher from Trenton, Ga. tied for the SSAC lead in saves (4), was second in wins (16), total innings pitched (160) and in strikeouts (140) .

Gossett was also named to the All-Freshman team and was awarded a Gold Glove for her error-free fielding at the pitcher spot.

Oliver, a native of Martin, Ga, led the conference in stolen bases and was ninth in the NAIA in stolen bases. The sophomore was a perfect 34-34 in steal attempts this season and also led the Golden Tigers in on-base percentage (.447).

Freshman Kelsey Payne (FR/Chattanooga, Tenn.) joins Gossett as an All-Freshman selection. The Chattanooga, Tenn. native was tied for second in home runs (5), third in on-base percentage (.392) and fourth in slugging percentage (.444) in her inaugural season as a Golden Tiger.

Four team members were also honored for the academic successes as Oliver and Schneider were joined by Landon Farrow (JR/Martin, Ga.) and Madison Strickland (SR/Gainesville, Ga.) as SSAC All-

Academic team members. All-Academic team members must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher and have attended at least four semesters in college.
