Softball Sweeps Brewton Parker
The Brenau softball team won two critical Southern States Athletic Conference games against Brewton Parker on Wednesday in Gainesville to move into second place in the divisional conference standings.
After falling behind 3-1 going into the bottom of the sixth, the Golden Tigers rallied to tie the game 3-3 and send the game into extra innings.
The tie stretched into the ninth inning when the Golden Tigers broke open the game to take a 4-3 win.
Madison Lacy went 2-3 with three RBIs, while Katie Cole went 3-5 with an RBI.
Madison Gossett pitched five innings, allowing only one run with three strikeouts. Taylor Causey pitched four shutout innings in relief to pick up the win.
In game two, Jenny Willis pitched a strong seven innings and the Golden Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 3-2 victory.
Willis pitched a complete game, allowing only one run to capture her eleventh win of the year.
The Golden Tigers now hold a one game advantage over Faulkner (Ala.) University in the East division going into the final weekend of regular season play.
Brenau (31-15) hosts Middle Georgia State today for a 5 pm eastern doubleheader at Lanier Point Park.
