Softball Opens with Sweep of Truett-McConnell
The Brenau softball team opened the 2015 season with a sweep against Truett-McConnell (Ga.) on Saturday in Gainesville.
In game one, Jenny Willis (SR/Auburn, Ga.) pitched four strong innings for the opening win of the season, while Madison Gossett (FR/Trenton, Ga.) struck out four in relief to close out the 3-1 victory.
Elizabeth Schneider (JR/Smyrna, Ga.) went 3-3 with a home run and two RBIs, while Allison Gunn (SO/Toccoa, Ga.) drove in the third run to help clinch the win.
In game two, Gossett threw a complete game for her first collegiate win, while fellow freshman Kelsey Payne (FR/Chattanooga, Tenn.) hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the first to give the Golden Tigers another 3-1 victory.
Madson Strickland went 1-2, while Katie Cole and Cheyenne Marsh (JR/Richmond Hill, Ga.) each added a hit.
Brenau (2-0 overall) next hosts Agnes Scott (Ga.) College on Saturday February 14th for a noon doubleheader.
