Softball Signs Pair of All-State Performers

Brenau softball announces the signing of Madison Gossett and Kelsey Payne to the 2014-2015 team.

Gossett, a pitcher from Trenton, Georgia, is the daughter of Kathy and Tony Gossett.

A standout high school player, Gossett won 55 games and amassed 757 strikeouts in her career at Dade County High School.

During her senior high school season, Gossett was named Georgia Dugout Player of the Year, Class AA Pitcher of the Year, Class AA First Team All-State and 7 AA Pitcher of the Year. In her career, she was a four-time All-Region player, three-time 7 AA Pitcher of the Year and two-time AA All-State selection.

Payne is a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee and a graduate of East Hamilton High School.

An All-State performer, the 2B/OF hit .450 with 25 homers during her career. She was a four-time All-District Performer and a Best of Preps selection in 2012 and 2013.

Both Gossett and Payne were chosen to participate in the Georgia/Tennessee All-Star Game in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

According to head coach Devon Thomas, "Gossett is expected to improve the strength of our pitching staff, while Payne looks to add power to the offense, while helping to shore up the middle infield defense".
