Softball Earns Split With Faulkner
The #20 Brenau softball team split two games with Faulkner (Ala.) University as the Golden Tigers rallied to win the first game 8-4, but dropped the second game 4-0.
In game one, Katie Cole's two-run RBI single gave the Golden Tigers a 2-0 lead in the first inning, however the Eagles rallied with one in the third and three in the fifth to take a 4-2 lead.
After an Andrea Bentley double started the rally in the top of the seventh, pinch hitter Taylor Causey hit a clutch two-run single to take the game into extra innings.
In the top of the eighth, Liz Schneider, Jenny Shepherd and Allison Gunn each singled to load the bases, while senior Katie Bolin hit a single to start a four run inning to give the Golden Tigers an 8-4 lead.
Jenny Shepherd pitched all eight innings to capture her 14th win of the year. The senior allowed two earned runs and nine hits, while striking out seven.
In game two, the Golden Tiger bats went cold as Brenau managed only two hits to fall 4-0.
Landon Farrow and Jenny Shepherd each had a hit for the Golden Tigers.
Jenny Willis pitched six innings while allowing four runs to take the loss.
Brenau (24-8, 9-7 SSAC) continues their conference schedule on Saturday as they face #10 Spring Hill College for a 2 pm doubleheader.
