Golden Tigers Softball Blasts Bears

The #17 ranked Brenau Golden Tigers softball team rolled past Truett-McConnell (Ga.) College 6-1 and 17-0 on Tuesday.

Sophomore Liz Schneider hit a home run and drove in two RBIs to lead the Golden Tigers, while freshman Victoria Fontana had two hits, two RBIs and a stolen base. Katie Bolin added an RBI and a stolen base, while Jenny Shepherd drove in one run.

Shepherd continued her dominance on the mound as the senior threw a complete game, striking out 10 batters en route to her seventh win of the season.

In game two, the Brenau offense continued its surge, scoring seven runs in the second inning to break open the game.

Caitlyn Glenn hit her fifth home run of the year and freshman Allison Gunn notched her first home run of the year as the Golden Tigers pounded out 19 hits to capture their eleventh win of the season.

Shepherd went 2-3 with three RBIs, while Katie Cole added a 3-3 performance with three RBIs. Bolin added three more hits, while Fontana continued to swing a hot bat, driving in two RBIs.

Jenny Willis pitched four shutout innings while allowing only one hit to capture her third win of the year, while Taylor Causey added one shutout inning of relief.

Brenau (11-1) continues their non-conference slate on Friday when they travel to Talledega (Ala.) College for a 4 pm doubleheader.
