Bats Lead Softball Past Hiawassee
The #17 Brenau Golden Tigers softball team defeated Hiawassee (TN.) College 8-0 in five innings and 15-0 in five innings in a doubleheader on Saturday.
In game one, senior Jenny Shepherd put on a dominating performance, striking out 13 of 16 batters en route to a no-hitter and her sixth win of the season.
Madison Strickland led the Golden Tigers batting 2-2 with a home run and 3 RBIs. Caitlynn Glenn went 2-2 with an RBI, while Shepherd went 2-3 with an RBI.
In game two, the Golden Tigers pounded out 13 hits and scored 15 runs to capture their ninth win of the season.
Caitlyn Glenn continued her strong offensive play, going 3-3 and hitting her fourth home run of the season. Landon Farrow went 3-4 with 3 RBIs, while Victoria Fontana went 3-4 with an RBI.
Farrow, Fontana, Annie Ranus and Andrea Bentley each chipped in a stolen base on the afternoon.
Katie Cole pitched two innings, holding Hiawassee to only two hits and no runs. The junior also added 3 RBIs from the plate to help secure the win.
Jenny Willis pitched two shutout innings in relief, allowing no runs while striking out three.
Brenau continues their non-conference schedule on March 4th when the Golden Tigers host Truett-McConnell (Ga.) College in a 4:00 pm doubleheader.
