Cheer Places Second at NCA National Championships
Daytona Beach, Fla.- The Brenau competitive cheerleading team placed second in the nation at the National Cheerleading Association (NCA) College Nationals this past weekend.
"I am so incredibly proud of the performances these talented athletes put on the mat both days of competition," said head coach Krista Britt. "We have had a hard season with injuries, sickness, etc, but with every setback, we continued to grind".
The Golden Tigers notched a team score of 91.544 to finish only four points behind eventual national champions, Alma (Mich.) College.
With an initial raw score of 86.3667 and a performance score of 91.787, the squad outpaced Endicott (Mass.) College by only .04001 points to secure its runner-up status at the championships.
Britt noted that her seniors- Destiny Clay, Jordyn Knight and Aubree Parker- were critical to the team's successes, saying, "Our seniors did an amazing job leading this team. This season will always hold a special place in the hearts of all of us. Go Tigers!".
Montclair State (N.J.) University earned fourth place with a score of 88.8287, while a pair of New York institutions- SUNY Cortland (88.2477) and Oswego State (79.8635)- rounded out the top six finishers.
