Golf competes in back-to-back tournaments in Tennessee; Baker and Boyd finish on All-Tournament team.
Niota, TN- A couple of chilly and windy days greeted the Brenau golf team the past two weeks in Tennessee. The Golden Tigers participated in the NE Tennessee Shootout hosted by Milligan and the TWU Spring Invitational hosted by Tennessee Wesleyan.
Morela Boyd was able to post an 8th place finish in Johnson City and a 3rd place finish in Niota. Boyd and teammate Sasha Baker finished as apart of the All-Tournament team in the TWU tournament.
Harper Davis improved her score by 18 shots from the first tournament of the spring and finished in the top 30 in Johnson City. After struggling a little on day one Davis was able to improve on day two and finish 11th in Niota.
When asked about his players performance after the tournament here's what Coach Elam had to say: "We were hoping for a strong showing the last two weeks going into the conference championship. Boyd had two good finishes though could be a little more consistent. Baker a full-time student teacher was able to play this week and did as well as she could given the amount of practice time, she is able to put into the team this semester. Davis has improved each tournament and we look forward to her playing a major factor for the Golden Tigers in the fall."
A huge thanks goes out to Tennessee Wesleyan and Stan Harrison for hosting the event and to Milligan and Tony Wallingford for hosting the week before. The Golden Tigers are back in action on April 14th competing in the AAC Conference Championship hosted by Governors Towne Club in Acworth, GA.
