Golf Opens Fall Season; Places Fifth at SCAD Invite
The Brenau golf team opened the fall season of competition at the SCAD Atlanta Fall Invitational at The Oaks Golf Course in Covington, Georgia on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Golden Tigers shot a 310-301=620 (+52) to place fifth in a solid field. The team finished three strokes behind fourth-place University of Northwestern Ohio and only four shots from third place Faulkner (Ala.) University.
Niquole Mangal led the Golden Tigers with an overall tie for second place. The junior fired an even par-71 in the first round and a 73 in round two for a two-day 144.
Sophomore Annika Blanton shot a solid 77-79=156 (+14) for T17th place, while Megan Reddick (81-78= 159) and Macie Hurst (81-80=161) placed 24th and T25th respectively.
Tennessee Wesleyan captured both the individual and team honors as Ryann McCuistion was the low medalist with a 69-70=139 (-3), and the Bulldogs shot a team total of 302-303=605 (+37).
The squad will next compete at the Tennessee Wesleyan Invitational in Niota, Tennessee on September 17 and 18.
