Gainesville, Ga - Brenau University Cross Country Coach Susan McIntyre announced today the signing of a pair of runners from Flowery Branch High School to add to her roster for this fall. Both runners, Eileen DeVico and Ana Lopera, finished in the Top 40 as seniors at the Georgia High School Cross Country Championships.
Lopera is a three year varsity letter winner and received the Most Improved Award as a junior and followed that up with the Championship Attitude Award her senior year when she captained her team. DeVico lettered in all four seasons for the Falcons.
"These two young ladies are quality runners and people and we have definitely improved our program by adding them to the mix. Eileen has good speed and has demonstrated that she is willing to work hard to improve her times. Ana has great leadership skills and also will work hard to improve. There is no doubt that these two young ladies will leave their mark at Brenau, both athletically and academically," said Coach McIntyre.

Audra Cochran at the Charles Harris 10K
Gainesville, Ga- Junior cross country runner Audra Cochran (Stockbridge) is having quite an off-season, not only as an athlete but also for her accomplishments in the academic world. Cochran ran the Charles Harris 10K on Feb. 27 and won her age group with a time of 41:48, which also placed her in 12th place out of 588 women. She now holds the fastest time as a Tiger runner participating in that race. One week later, she ran the Chattahoochee Road Runners 5K and again won her age group with a time of 19:42, which placed her 2nd out of 90 women.
Wed, Jan 20, 2010 - [Women's Cross Country]
Gainesville, GA- Helen, Georgia hosts one of the toughest races in North America in the Hogpen Hill Climb. The race starts at noon in Helen and finishes 10.6 miles later at the top of one of the toughest gaps in North Georgia, Hogpen Gap. As if the run up the gap wasn't tough enough, the race takes place in the middle of winter and the race starts at noon to give the top of the mountain a chance to warm up to its peak temperature for the day when the race finishes. Brenau's Audra Cochran competed in this brutal test of endurance and not only won her age group but finished ninth overall in the women's division.

Gainesville, GA- The Brenau University cross country team collected 90 dozen cookies for Treat the Troops and raised $200 in donations for the postage. They helped to fill 119 boxes that will be shipped to the troops. Each box contained five dozen homebaked cookies, handwarmers, hot chocolate packets, magazines, handwritten letters from students from various schools in Hall and Forsyth Counties, candy and personal hygiene items.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that a total of 254 women's cross country runners have been named 2009 Daktronics-NAIA Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athletes. Selected from Brenau is Junior Audra Cochran (Stockbridge) who has been the leading runner for the Golden Tigers for the past two seasons.
The announcement was made one day prior to the Men's and Women's Cross Country National Championships to be held at Fort Vancouver Historical Site in Vancouver, Wash. Nominated by each institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status to qualify.

Suwanee, GA- The Brenau cross country team stepped in to fill a need with Forsyth County Girls on the Run Sunday and took care of the timing of the 5K race held at Lambert High School. In the mission statement for GOTR they prepare girls from 3rd to 8th grade for a lifetime of respect and healthy living through a 12-week program of two-one hour sessions per week of training to complete a 5K run.

Nashville, TN- The Brenau cross country team placed fifth out of a field of eight teams today at the NAIA Transouth/Southern States/Independent Postseason National Qualifier meet. The 5K race was hosted by Union University and held at the Percy Warner Park. Sophomore Lilian Korir led the way for the Tigers, finishing 17th in a time of 21:07. Maria Gonzalez finished with a strong kick to come in at 21:08 and 18th place.
Sat, Oct 24, 2009 - [Women's Cross Country]
Louisville, KY- It was a flat and fast course and an outstanding field for the Tigers cross country team, and they responded with their best times of the season. There were 22 teams and 181 runners competing in the Southeastern Cross Country Classic at the Tom Sawyer State Park, and Brenau finished 16th. As she has most of the season, Junior Audra Cochran paced the Tigers, finishing in 56th place with a season-best 21:03 for the 5K distance.

Gainesville, GA- Junior Audra Cochran (Stockbridge) has been selected as Golden Tiger of the Week for the week of Oct. 6-13 for her performance at the Southern Cross Country Challenge last Saturday in Marietta. Cochran, who is usually the top runner for the Golden Tigers, did not lead the way in this race, but showed incredible determination after a nasty fall to get back up and finish second for Brenau. This is what her coach, Susan McIntyre, had to say in nominating her.
Sat, Oct 10, 2009 - [Women's Cross Country]
Marietta, GA- Junior transfer Regina Ogechi returned to her old JC course today at Chattahoochee Technical College and led Brenau to a 4th place finish by finishing 18th with a time of 22:21, her best time of the season. Audra Cochran slipped a couple of times on the wet course, but still managed to finish 21st (22:35) and right behind her was Maria Gonzalez, who ran her best race of the year to record a 22:37, good enough for 22nd place.
