Krista Britt - Head Coach - 1st Season
Krista Britt will begin her first season, as Head Coach, of the Competitive Cheerleading program.  Britt has an extensive background in the sport as well as strong choreographic experience.

Krista, who has been a member of the National Cheerleading Federation since 2001, began her coaching journey in 1995 with the Marist School and has been extensively involved with Cheers USA since that time.  She is currently coaching the Junior Varsity and Varsity Competitive Cheerleaders at North Hall High School.

In  addition to her coaching background, Britt has extensive experience in professional production, appearing in Super Bowl XXIV in Atlanta as a featured dancer and instructor and serving on the Head Staff for the SEC Championship Game since 2006.  She has also been involved with the Gator Bowl and Sugar Bowl with the pre-game and halftime shows.

" I am thrilled to announce the hiring of Krista Britt as the head coach of our newest sport, Competitive Cheerleading," said Athletic Director Mike Lochstampfor.  "Krista is absolutely the right person to initiate this sport for Brenau University and we are fortunate to have someone of her caliber lead what should be another successful venture for the Golden Tiger family!  She is very enthusiastic and excited about this opportunity and I have no doubt she will be able to attract the best student-athletes for the inaugural team which will begin competing in 2011!"
Britt, who currently lives in Grayson with her husband of nine years Chris, and 3 boys CJ, Knox and Colton said,  "Coaching is a passion of mine and runs in the family. My mother is a choreographer and coached at Georgia Tech University. My grandfather coached high school and college football and baseball.  I have been a cheerleader since I was 5 years old and often ended up on the sidelines at Tech while my mother coached. I went on to cheer in middle school, high school and into my college years."

" All-girl competitive cheerleading is one of the fastest growing programs in colleges and universities today and I am so excited Brenau has decided to implement competitive cheerleading into it's athletic program in 2011. I look forward to coaching these athletes and building a highly competitive and successful program at Brenau."
