Mobile, AL - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that 126 women's tennis student-athletes have been named to the 2011 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. In order to be nominated, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
The Brenau University Tennis Team is made up of 7 athletes, 4 of which were honored with this title. Those that were recognized for their academic achievement include: Seniors - Liubov Orlova (Russia), Kate Mazackova (Czech Republic), and Nelli Martirosyan (Armenia), and Junior - Lyn See Choo (Malaysia).
Grace (Ind.) and Huntington (Ind.) led the NAIA for the number of members named from an institution (each of which had 5 players recognized). With that said, the Golden Tigers trailed closely behind, having 4 of their athletes named as Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
