Junior Transfer Kate Mazackova

Montgomery, AL- The Brenau tennis team completed the first day of the AUM Blue Gray Invitational Tournament today and several of the Tigers had outstanding performances in the tournament.  There are eight teams in the field, and all are NCAA I or NCAA II schools except for the host AUM and Brenau. 
Sophomore All American Lyn See Choo (Malaysia) and Junior transfer Kate Mazackova (Czech Republic) will play in tomorrow's doubles final after opening up with a close 8-7 win over Meiring/Diamond from Samford, AL and then cruising past the AUM team of Appleyard and
Zwoczak 8-0.  Mazackova then came from behind to defeat Laura Stack of Belmont 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 to advance in singles play.  Choo defeated Emily Whitney of Southern Indiana 6-4, 6-1 to move into the semi-finals.  Junior Jolene Wong (Singapore) teamed up with Freshman Eline Nagels and split their two doubles matches, losing 8-2 to Rensburg/Mallorie from Samford and coming back to defeat Kirven/Erwin of Samford 8-4 to move into the consolation final tomorrow.  Nagels lost her singles match to Defelice from UAB 6-4, 6-2 and Wong was defeated by Palinder from Kennesaw State 6-4, 6-1.  Brenau is coming off a very successful previous season in which they were ranked #10 in the final NAIA Poll and advanced all the way to the quarterfinals in the National Championships.
