Montgomery, Al - The Brenau University soccer team ran into a formidable opponent in the opening game the Capital City Classic today and Mobile came away with a 5-0 victory. The Tigers drop to 0-2 on the season and the Rams up their record to 2-1-1. Mobile dominated the match with 21 shots, 16 of which were on goal, compared to Brenau's four shots, one of which was on goal.
Coach Mike Lochstampfor singled out Junior Captain Tori Futrell (Savannah) for her outstanding play in the match. "She inspired me with her toughness and effort and she just would not let down, even though we were in a tough situation." All Conference goalie, Lisa Lesnick (Surfside Beach, SC) came up with 11 saves in the match and Freshman Hannah Norwood continued her solid play and transfer Erin Brinks came up with the only shot on goal for the Tigers.
"We're a little banged up right now and not at full strength," said Lochstampfor. "We have a lot of work to do before conference play, but we have the ingredients to put it together." Brenau will return to action tomorrow at 4 pm when they take on conference rival Auburn Montgomery.
