Montgomery, Al- The Brenau Golden Tigers softball team ran their season record to 9-1 and league leading conference record to 4-0 today with a sweep of Faulkner, 2-1 and 10-1 (5).  Freshman Anna Maness pitched a complete game in the first one, striking out three and Sarah Applegarth hit a solo homerun in the top of the fourth inning.  Taylor Kelley drove in the first run for Brenau in the second inning and Lana Lazar went 2-2 from the plate, while Caitlin Kelly, Morgan Smith and Brooke Bryant each had a hit. In the second game, the Tigers pounded out 11 hits as Lazar completed an outstanding day with two more hits and Tiffany Schandera went 2-2 with two RBIs.  Morgan Smith drove in three runs and Taylor Kelley and Caitlin Kelly each went 2-4 with Caitlin driving in two runs.  Maness and Ellen Black each had a hit and the two of them combined for the win, with Black getting the decision and Maness finishing off the last two innings.  Brenau will take on AUM tomorrow in a big early season battle for control in the SSAC.
