Columbia, SC- The Brenau softball team ran their early season record to 7-1 and their conference mark to 2-0 with a sweep of Columbia, 12-0 (5), 5-2.  In the first game, Freshman Anna Maness threw her first collegiate no-hitter with a nine strikeout, two walk beauty.  She got plenty of help offensively as the Tigers pounded out 12 hits.  Brooke Bryant led the way with a 3-4 effort, Sarah Applegarth went 2-4 with three RBI's and Tiffany Schandera also had two hits with two RBI's.  Taylor Kelly also went 2-4 as Brenau ended this one early. In the second game, Ellen Black took the mound and was the winning pitcher with three strikeouts.  Maness came in for the save a picked up another three strikeouts.  Morgan Smith continued her tear at the plate, going 3-3 with two solo homeruns.  Caitlin Kelly also went 3-3 with a double.  In the seventh inning, Bryant started things out with a double and Schandera followed that up with another two bagger to drive in an insurance run.  The Tigers collected 11 hits in this game to complete a very productive day at the plate.  Brenau will continue conference play next Saturday with a doubleheader at Faulkner.
