Daytona Beach, FL- The Brenau Golden Tigers opened up the Daytona Beach Shootout today against #16 Trevecca Nazarene, TN and came up on the short end of a 79-70 decision.  The Tigers fall to 7-3 with the loss and Trevecca improves to 7-3.  Ashley Hagans led four players in double figures for Brenau with 19 points and eight rebounds. Vicky Wilson had 14 points and eight rebounds to go with six assists and Paige Cooper and Tori Collins had 12 and 10 respectively. The Tigers started quickly with a 7-0 run to start the game and built the lead to to 12 points with six minutes left in the first half.  TNU roared back to take a 40-38 halftime lead as Brenau got in foul trouble and had some costly turnovers.  Trevecca went on to take an 11 point lead with 18 minutes left in the game before the Tigers mounted a comeback of their own to narrow the margin to six with three minutes left.  "I am excited about playing in this tournament against some of the better teams in the NAIA because it helps us improve in some areas that we need to in order to make a run in conference play starting in January," said Coach Gary Bays. " We will certainly be able to use the tape of this game as a teaching tool as we prepare for the rest of the season."  The task is even more daunting tomorrow as Brenau will face off against three time NAIA National Champion and current #1 team in the nation, Union, TN.
